has its own distinct identity. the individual concert identities are then used on posters and on the website to help sell tickets. they are also used on concert programmes. this year's theme was 'joshua bell and friends' as the soloists were hand picked by artistic director and violinist, joshua bell. solution: in order to reflect the 'joshua bell and friends' theme, we asked illustrator, sarah maycock , to create an informal, almost scrapbook style look. this enabled us to use existing photos of the soloists within a collage that spoke eloquently for each concert. marks and spencer vodka packaging our cheeky russian vodka label design for m&s. every grain of rice brief: to create a cover and an overall look and feel for 'every grain of rice' by chinese food expert, fuchsia dunlop for bloomsbury publishing. solution: i recreated traditional chinese patterns for the cover and 16 title pages using grains of rice to represent the idea that each tiny element (or individual) is essential for the greater good. natalie bellos, commissioning editor at bloomsbury says: we love every grain of rice, it's still one of my favourite covers on the list. lovely as a tree website brief: when i originally set lovely as a tree up, back in 2008, there was very little information to help graphic designers commission less environmentally damaging paper and print. on talking to other designers, i discovered that there was a need for an online tool to help with this. solution: i researched, and designed a website to enable designers to easily find environmentally friendlier papers and printers. the website also explained why it is important to specify recycled paper and use more environmentally aware printers. the website which is now recognised as a trusted source of good, impartial information and recommended by wwf. shown here are: - the home page - the paper issues page – why we should all be buying paper from more sustainable sources. - the printfinder where designers can search for printers that meet a strict environmental criteria. - thepaperfinder where designers can search for recycled and fsc certified papers by paper type, environmental criteria and by colour. shown below is a selection of publicity for both lovely as a tree and its sister organisation, three trees don't make a forest (no longer running) which caroline set up with nat hunter and sophie thomas. land of fish and rice brief: to create a cover and an overall look and feel for 'land of fish and rice', chinese food expert, fuchsia dunlop's latest chinese cookbook for bloomsbury publishing. this book takes a culinary journey through the lower yangtze region of china. the region is very wet, with many lakes and rivers and also the sea along its east coast. solution: we created a watery themed design, using fish scales for the end papers and green-blue ink blots throughout. the photography, by yuki sugiura, is beautifully considered and very tranquil. boots packaging for camilla lillieskold designed while working at camilla lilliesköld design associates, the boots original beauty formula products were based on original 19th and 20th century recipes so we designed the packaging to reflect this. we also redesigned the boots logo for this range, based on an early 20th century logo. design week award winner 2010 silver pentaward 2010 also shown are some of our early designs that used old fashioned engravings in a new and playful way. camberwell arts festival promotional campaign brief: to create the promotional campaign for the 2015 camberwell arts festival on the theme of 'feast on art'. items to be delivered: brochure, advert, newspaper advertorial insert, posters, banners, social media banners and badges. solution: we created a campaign based on traditional menu designs and cafe graphics to highlight the theme of 'feast' and the various events within the festival in a fun and accessible way. jordana leighton of camberwell arts says: caroline presented a really exciting pitch that was clearly borne out of a deep understanding our brand, which played a huge part in our decision to work with her. feedback from the general public has been fantastic: our branding really brought the theme of "feast" to life and was accessible to the whole community, was easy to understand and most importantly was memorable. the flyers and posters really stood out in what is a very cluttered space of local festivals and events, and the artwork replicated beautifully across all mediums from large scale street banners to social media banners and pin badges. i am incredibly proud of what the 2015 festival achieved, and it is as much down to the success of the visual identity as the events themselves. my day job requires me to work with a lot of creative agencies and designers, and i can say with absolute confidence that working with caroline has been the most straightforward, collaborative and fun designer to work with of them all. i would not hesitate to recommend her services. thank you caroline and i hope to be able to work with you again! gabrieli identity and website background: gabrieli are a choral and orchestral group, performing works from the renaissance to the present day. they have also just launched a group called gabrieli roar for singers and musicians aged 10+. brief: gabrieli wanted to re-launch their website with a new logo and overall brand look, to better reflect their beautifully crafted music. we also produced a new logo for roar, their new young people's group. items to be delivered: overall brand, gabrieli logo, gabrieli roar logo, new photographic look and website. solution: first of all, we redrew the logo to give it a more majestic and confident look. then we redesigned the website to make it feel ‘classic yet modern’, elegant and very clear, with plenty of breathing space. we worked out a structure with improved navigation and ways to draw visitors into the website content and ensuring that it was easy to make donations. the website is very easy to update and gabrieli can easily add new photographs to the galleries and embed videos and podcasts. we also organised a photoshoot so that gabrieli now have a bank of photographs that can be used throughout the website and on promotional material. the photos add to the cohesive look of the site. camilla king of gabrieli says: “we chose caroline because we wanted a more personal approach. if we’d used an agency, i think we might have struggled with some of the difficulties that we encountered along the way. as it was, we had continuity and it was always caroline or james we were talking to. it gave us more freedom, which we really valued and it felt like a really nice collaboration. caroline had an immediate understanding of our organisation, our brand and of what we were looking for. she presented 3 routes (for the website), each was different but we could have used any one of them. i would
